Data Infrastructure Engineer - Sport Data Platform

Data & Analytics / Data Science / Software Engineering - located in either the UK or Canada’s East Coast (Remote) / London, UK / Wolverton, UK)

The Sport Data Platform is the engine that powers all of Twenty3's' sport data innovations. Twenty3 is a sports tech company, and creative innovation through data is at the heart of our product portfolio. The Sport Data Platform enables our business to consume and analyse data for multiple sports, from multiple providers, and serve insight to our customers in a timely fashion.

Working across both our engineering and data science teams, the Data Infrastructure Engineer will build, maintain and support the Sport Data Platform. You will play an important role in helping our data science team to deliver innovation at an ever increasing velocity, whilst also championing good engineering principles that ensure our customers and product teams experience a stable and performant data platform.

  • Design, build, scale, and evolve our data platform, services and tooling
  • Engage with product management, engineering and data science about their use of the Sport Data Platform
  • Develop and maintain systems for orchestrating and deploying data infrastructure
  • Develop monitoring, alerting and debugging infrastructure for data pipelines
  • Take an active part in the operational maintenance that keeps our infrastructure up and running
  • Be a key driver of Twenty3's migration to this next generation data platform as it continues to evolve

  • You have meaningful practical experience working with the technologies in the Sport Data Platform stack: GraphQL Elasticsearch SQL databases (MySQL) Amazon Web Services (AWS) and containerisation (Docker, ECS, lambdas) Infrastructure provisioning services/frameworks such as Serverless and AWS CloudFormation Continuous integration and deployment code and tooling (we use CircleCI to run tests on deployment) NodeJS
  • You have an understanding of Golang (although we desire to use NodeJS across the stack, for legacy reasons we do have some Golang; it would be beneficial if you can understand it)
  • You are comfortable developing code in version control such as Git
  • You are capable of working and prioritising independently
  • Excellent English language skills
  • You are based either in the UK, or on the east coast of Canada

Working for Twenty3 offers many perks, but the key thing is that we are a talented team with a passion for the product we are building. If you do join our team you will benefit from:

  • The flexibility of remote work (with allowance for co-working membership to ensure you don’t go stir crazy at home)
  • Competitive salary
  • Staff share ownership scheme
  • Excellent holiday allowance
  • Excellent equipment budget
  • A range of other benefits including healthcare and support for gym membership (location dependant)
